Detailed Itenary

                       

Day 1: Transfer to Mabamba swamp for birding then later transfer to Lake Mburo National Park.

The driver will pick you from the hotel after breakfast, and head to Mabamba swamp for the incredible birding. The swamp is found in Kasanje Sub County in Wakiso district about 50 kilometers southwest of Kampala. The site is the most accessible for spotting the legendry shoebill stork in the whole world.

At Mabamba swamp, you will sail on the calm waters on a canoe voyage through papyrus swamp and proceed to the unscathed attractiveness of the wetland, where you will have the highest chance of seeing shoebill and other papyrus swamp dwellers, like saddle-billed stork, malachite kingfisher, African jacana and other swamp species.

Birding at mabamba swamp will give you an opportunity to get acquainted with one of Uganda’s most virgin swamps. After proceed on the journey to the Equator and have lunch then head to Lake Mburo national park where you will arrive in the evening.

Day 2: Birding and boat cruise on Lake Mburo.

After having breakfast, start the birding /game drive in Lake Mburo national park. This park is the smallest savannah national park in Uganda and protects about 330 bird species and variety of mammal species that includes antelopes, zebras, warthogs and baboons and many others.

Look out for the famous bird species, which include papyrus yellow and white winged warbler, African fin foot, saddle billed stork and grey crowned crane. After the activity head back to the lodge for lunch and later in the afternoon, go for a boat cruise on Lake Mburo.

This activity will give you a chance to spot wildlife that will be drinking water on the shores of the lake and also some reptiles and birds, at the end of the boat cruise, head back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park.

After having breakfast, transfer from Lake Mburo national park to Queen Elizabeth national park. The drive will offer you great scenic views of the landscapes and other attractions in the western region. Have lunch in the park and rest for the evening, enjoying the park views at the balcony of your hotel.

Day 4: Game drive and boat cruise on Kazinga channel.

Wake up very early and go for a morning game drive in order to view the nocturnal and the early risers in the park. On the game drive you’re assured to spot elephants, buffaloes, waterbucks, antelopes, lions, leopards and many other wildlife. Return to the lodge later for breakfast and lunch.

In the afternoon, go for a boat cruise along the legendary Kazinga channel where you will see large concentrations of wildlife along its shorelines; these include hippos, elephants, buffaloes and this place is also a magnet for birds, therefore chances of spotting a number of birds on the boat cruise are high. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Birding and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park.

Wake up and have breakfast and then go for bird watching along Kasenyi plains in search for popular birds that include; white winged, African reed, greater and lesser swamp warbler, black-chested and brown snake eagle and many others.

Queen Elizabeth national park is a bird haven and one of the best birding destinations in Uganda and it also hosts some bird species which cannot be found elsewhere in Uganda.

Head back to the lodge for lunch and in the late afternoon, transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park where you will arrive in the late evening.

Day 6: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park.

After having an early breakfast, you will prepare to set off for the great adventure of gorilla trekking in the misty hills of Bwindi. You will head to the park headquarters for a vital briefing regarding these gorillas and the trek will begin while the guide is a head of you and from a hike through the park, as you search for the critically endangered mountain gorillas.

While trekking, travelers are only allowed to spend one hour in the presence of these peaceful giants. And at the end of the trek, head back to your lodge for refreshment and lunch. Then spend the entire evening at the lodge.

Day 7: Birding and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi.

Arrive at the lake in late evening. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 8: Boat cruise and transfer to Kampala.
