Overview

The 10 days wildlife safari in Uganda will first take you to Murchison falls national park. A park that is traversed by the great Nile river with amazing boat cruises and game drives to spot the different wildlife species like the Buffaloes, elephants, lions, bushbucks, warthogs, hyenas and many other wildlife species.

This trip also gives you a chance to explore Kibale National park, the primate capital of chimps in Africa to have an ultimate encounter with these gentle apes of the forest and other primate species for lifetime wildlife safari experinece.

Continue to Queen Elizabeth National Park and have stunning game drives with several possible chances of spotting the rare tree climbing lions in the Ishasha sector as well as a launch cruise on the famous Kazinga channel that connects two lakes Edward and George.

Then you finally proceed to the popular Bwindi Impenetrable national park; a home to over 400 mountain gorillas to trek these humble giants of the jungle. An experience that is extremely trilling.

Detailed Itinerary

 

Day 1: Arrival at the airport and transfer to Kampala.

On arrival at the airport, be received by a professional and knowledgeable driver guide and proceed to Kampala the capital city of Uganda. The city gives a good introduction to the pearl of Africa, it’s a city of seven hill, seat of the government and the center of Uganda’s commercial life. Spend the night in the city.

Day 2: Transfer to Murchison falls national park via Ziwa Rhino sanctuary

Early morning after breakfast, start on the journey to Murchison falls national park, the largest park in Uganda and traversed by the Nile River with the most powerful waterfall in the world; the Murchison falls.

Have a stopover at Ziwa Rhino sanctuary and track the rare white Rhinos in their natural setting. Meet the habituated crashes of rhinos that have come to adapt with the nature of this sanctuary.

Later have a lunch stopover in Masindi legendary town of the Banyoro people and then proceed to Murchison falls national park for spectacular views of various wildlife species that call this park a home.

Day 3: Morning game drive and Launch Cruise at the Nile.

After breakfast, go for a morning game drive that exposes you to the Buffaloes, lions, hyenas, elephants, giraffes, oribis, warthogs, cheetahs and many other species summing to over 70 mammal species within few minutes of the drive. The drive also gives clear views of the beautiful savanna landscape dotted with various wildlife species all making it a breathtaking scenery.

In the afternoon, have a boat cruise at the Nile river and see banks filled with crocodiles, hippos, elephants and species of sea birds all in one dwelling. The cruise is one of the rare cases where you breathe in the real fresh air from the trees and the winds of the Nile, just a perfect way to get away from the confusion of the city.

Day 4: Depart to Kibale National park.

Early morning at 8am after breakfast, embark on the journey to Kibale national park which is the primate capital of the world with more than 400 chimps habituated here and other primate species. Since it’s a long journey, have a stopover at Hoima town for lunch and then proceed to the park

Day 5: Chimp trekking and Bigodi Community

Head to the park headquarters at 8am for some simple briefing about chimp trekking in Uganda. Now start on the move in the jungle to search for the beautiful chimps that live here. Due to the huge numbers of the chimps in this forest, trekking them is quick as it is very easy to spot them in the branches of the trees, jumping from one branch to another, as they play and chase each other.

Even mother chimps feeding their babies can be seen on this trek. Walking through the thick lush, with only trees as the immediate neighbors gives a natural experience that no any other park can give yet.

Visit the Bigodi local community around the park in the afternoon after lunch. A longer stay here takes you to the community school and the water source. Visit the Bigodi women’s group and buy souvenirs to take back home after the safari in Uganda.

Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National park via Amabere Ga’nyina Mwiru caves.

Have breakfast in the morning and then be driven to Fort portal town, the once cleanest town in East Africa and a town with many exclusive wonders. Drive through the town directly to Amabere caves, just about 5km away from Fort portal.

Hike through the hills and explore the famous Amabere caves that are believed to be a place where kabaka (king) Bukuku hid his daughter Nyina mwiru to stop her from getting married. The story attached on these caves makes the place more authentic. The hike still enables you to see the numerous crater lake of Fort portal and the Nyakasura falls.

Later in the afternoon after lunch, then proceed to Queen Elizabeth national park that was named after the its visit by the Queen of England, Queen Elizabeth national park  with a varsity of wildlife species dwelling here including even one the rarest species; the tree climbing lions that are only found in her Ishasha sector and in Tanzania.

Day 7: Morning Game drive and Launch Cruise at Kazinga Channel.

Having had your breakfast, now go for the morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth national park, a drive that only takes a few minutes to start spotting the various wildlife species including the buffaloes, elephants, lions, warthogs, Uganda kobs, hyenas, bushbucks and many others.

The drive goes around the numerous craters and crater lakes that the park encompasses in its hills and valleys, creating an amazing scenery.

Have a launch cruise at the famous Kazinga channel that connects Lake Edward to Lake George. It is probably one of the longest channels in the world. A sail at the edge of the channel gives clear views of the large hippos and elephants that be cooling their skins in its water. The shores are covered with various sea bird species making it a good birding spot for bird lovers.

Day 8: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest national park.

From breakfast, we transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable national park, a renowned destination for gorilla trekking in the whole world, drive through the Ishasha sector where the tree climbing lions are likely to be spotted on almost every drive that goes through this region of the park. The drive still gives you comprehensive views of the Rwenzori Mountain of the moon and Virunga chain of mountains on the boarder of Uganda, Rwanda and Congo.

Day 9: Gorilla trekking and the Batwa community tour.

An early breakfast and move to the park headquarters for briefing from the local guides. After start on the journey into the impenetrable forest on the hunt for mountain gorillas. Gorilla trekking involves a simple hike through the montane forest without clear paths but rather having to pave your way to the top with the help of the local guide.

On the search, meet several other primate species like the white and black colobus monkeys, baboons and others as well as different bird, butterflies and reptile species. When you the gorilla family, spend an hour with them, watching them play from one tree branch to another, fight each other and their way of life. Take as many pictures as you want provided the camera doesn’t have a flash.

Later visit the Batwa community, the first inhabitants of the impenetrable forest of Bwindi, experience how they used to hunt in the bush using the arrow and bow, visit the community’s shrines and also taste the local cuisines of these ancient people, Also engage in the in the traditional dance and songs performed here.

Day 10: Departure

In the morning, have breakfast and then checkout of the hotel and depart back to catch up with the flight back home or overnight stay at the lodge.
